- Study of microbial biodiversity of Georgia
- Isolation of brewing yeasts from endemic grape varieties common in traditional viticulture regions of Georgia and study of their properties for use in winemaking
- Research of lactic acid and propionic acid bacteria of traditional Georgian dairy products (Matsoni, Tushuri Guda, Tenili cheese) and study of production technologies of these products
- Study of lactic acid bacteria isolated from the gastrointestinal tract of domestic chickens selected in different regions of Georgia for the development of the homoprobiotic preparation’s production technology for its use as a feed supplement for chickens
- Research the ability of bacteria and yeasts isolated from the soils and plants of different soil-climatic zones of Georgia to transform various pollutants (crude oil and oil products, nitroaromatic compounds, organochlorine compounds, pesticides containing copper chloride) and developing of the environmental protection technologies based on these studies
- Study of metabolites of bacteria and yeasts (enzymes, biosurfactants, carotenoids, antimicrobial substances)
- Research of phytopathogenic microorganisms and development of biological methods against them
